A man who shot at a plain clothes Kern County Sheriff’s detective in southeast Bakersfield has pleaded no contest to recklessly discharging a firearm.

Michael Beilby mistakenly thought the detective was engaged in a sex act as he stood outside his car on Watts Drive near Cottonwood Road July 11th. No one was hurt.

Sentencing is next month.
