A Bakersfield non-profit has started the “Adopt-A-Box” program to put more blessing boxes around Kern County.

Blessing Box Foundation co-founder Carol O’Connor says they’re looking to partner with churches, schools or other charities that can help keep them stocked.

Blessing boxes are free food pantries that anyone can take from or donate to. There are pantries in central Bakersfield, California City and Ridgecrest with a fourth starting up in Oildale.
