LOST HILLS, MCKITTRICK GET STUDIED

The California Air Resources Board has started a three month study to track air quality near some oil and gas extraction facilities in Kern County.

Spokeswoman Lindsay Buckley says they chose the sites because residents of Lost Hills and McKittrick may be more at-risk for serious diseases like asthma and cancer.

A specialized van will be parked at several spots around the area to test the air. Those results will be used to come up with a plan to reduce pollutants.
