NORTH HIGH THREAT UPDATE

The Kern High School District is has asked KUZZ News to clarify our report regarding a threat to the campus Tuesday night…The story states “deputies were at North High School in Oildale all day Wednesday after a threat to shoot up the school,” which was based directly on the statement below that was sent to KUZZ News from KHSD.

Student and staff safety is a priority in the Kern High School District. Administration at North High School became aware of an incident last evening at the conclusion of band and colorguard practice. Occupants in a vehicle drove by this group of students, yelled obscenities and made vague threats directed towards the school. Administrators immediately ensured that the students were safe, released them to parents, and notified both the Kern High School District Police and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. The incident was investigated and the threat was not substantiated. Kern High School District Police and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department will have an increased presence on and around the school today and this evening.” District spokeswoman Erin Briscoe says today there were only patrols around the campus, and that they’ve gotten several calls from worried parents as a result of the story.
