ROBBERY, CHASES LEAD TO LOCKDOWNS

Bakersfield Police had to close off several blocks and put three schools on lock down this morning as they searched for the men who held up a local market at gunpoint. Sgt. Brian Holcombe says the robbery happened around 8am, and several suspects led officers on foot chases through several blocks of apartments off Belle Terrace and Stine Road. “The officers were able to detain four subjects at this point, the investigation remains ongoing as to determine who’s involved or not involved.” At the time of this report, no firearms had been found, but Holcombe says a CHP K-9 officer brought down one man on McDonald Way. Lock downs at Curran and Munsey elementary schools, and West High were lifted by 11:00.
