An armed man has been taken into custody following a domestic disturbance that closed off a northeast Bakersfield neighborhood for several hours.

Police Sgt. Brian Holcombe says they evacuated neighbors Thursday morning after the suspect showed up at a house he’d previously lived in on Artesano Court and Oporto Way. He accidentally fired a round into the floor but didn’t hit anyone.

The suspect is getting mental health treatment.

School buses were rerouted until the all clear was given.
