HOMELESS MAN CONVICTED OF MURDER

A homeless man has been convicted of first-degree murder for strangling the homeless woman he was rooming with at a central Bakersfield motel.

Eldrick Richmond claimed he killed Delenna Ruiz in self defense last October after she went through his stuff at the Town and Country Motel on Union Avenue, but a coronor’s report showed the 5’3″ woman also had significant blows to her head from the 5’10” man.

The two had met only hours before deciding to pool their money to get the room that cold night.

He faces 55 years to life in prison at sentencing.
