Cal State Bakersfield says it’s still one of the safest campuses in California after four sexual assaults were reported in the dorms in 2017, compared to zero the year before.

Police Chief Marty Williamson says they don’t know what’s behind the increase, but they have several ways for victims to report their crimes, as well as offer police escorts.

CSUB crime statistics also show there weren’t many burglaries or property crimes last year and no hate crimes.
