LOCAL VETERAN MEMORIALIZED

The California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Sacramento is adding a new name Saturday: Army Spc. James Williams of Lamont, who recently passed away from complications due to Agent Orange exposure. Williams attended Arvin High School and received two purple hearts during his tour of duty in the late 1960s.

Veterans whose death was connected to the war, even decades later, are eligible to have their name put on the memorial. 120 veterans from Kern County are listed on the memorial, including 55 from Bakersfield.
