The Bakersfield City School District has broken ground on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, a campus that will focus on STEAM education. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.

The school on Cottonwood Road and Belle Terrace will open in 2020.
