Kern County Supervisors have approved a new food and wood composting facility near Lamont. Planning Director Lorelei Oviatt says Recology on North Wheeler Ridge and Sycamore roads has technology that will significantly reduce air pollution and help us follow state rules, which now require all food waste to be composted.

The facility will also pay thousands of dollars to the Arvin-Lamont Economic Opportunity area fund, as well as to the cities themselves.
