Kern County Public Health is asking diners at Urbane Cafe in east Bakersfield to get checked for Shigellosis, a contagious bacterial infection that causes diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. A worker who knew he had the illness for at least two weeks was removed from the restaurant on Mt. Vernon Avenue yesterday Monday, but he may have spread it through the food.

No illnesses have been reported.
