10TH YEAR FOR GREAT CA SHAKEOUT

Organizations across Kern County took part in morning’s 10th annual Great California Shake Out earthquake drill, which helps them prepare before “The Big One” hits. Greenfield Union School District Assistant Superintendent Luke Hogue thinks it’s important for kids to know we’ve had large earthquakes in the past. “Anytime we can do something that calls attention to student and staff safety it’s a good thing, particularly the region we live in, we do experience earthquakes often.” That includes the 7.3-Magnitude White Wolf quake that struck here in 1952 and killed 14 people. The annual statewide drill always falls on October 18th at 10:18 am.
