The California Department of Justice has approved the merger between Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, which runs three hospitals in Bakersfield. The new CommonSpirit Health company will have to maintain emergency and women’s health services for 10 years, a key concern for unions who had opposed the merger.
