SCOOTING THE LAW, FOR NOW

The city of Bakersfield is upset with a company who has dumped 100 electric scooters around town.

City Manager Alan Tandy says Bird does not have the proper permits, which could be a big problem for taxpayers if the scooters are involved in accidents with pedestrians or other vehicles.

Tandy says they do not have plans to take them off the sidewalks, and have been working with the company since Friday morning’s drop off.

Bird scooters are rented through their app and can be picked up or put down anywhere.
