BIG TURNOUT FOR BAKO TOY RUN

Thousands of motorcycle riders rolled through Bakersfield for the 35th Annual Toy Run and Food Drive, along with classic cars, scooters and all kinds of trucks.Captain Kevin Pope with the Salvation Army says the event organizers work all year to help local families in need. “It does take a lot of work on their part, and we’re just glad to be out here with coffee and donuts to keep the bikers happy until the parade starts.” Last year’s ride to the fairgrounds also raised $25-thousand in donations, and Pope says they have a thousand families on the distribution list this year. The Salvation Army is also recruiting volunteer bell ringers for their Red Kettle campaign, which is their biggest fundraiser of the year. Contact the Salvation Army at 661-325-8626.
