BAKO PARKING PATROL NOW PERMANENT

The Bakersfield City Council has made three, temporary parking enforcement officers full time, after a successful test run on reducing violations downtown and near Bakersfield College. Assistant City Manager Chris Huot says the pilot program followed a study that also recommended improvements at the parking garage on 18th and Eye streets, which is free for the first two hours. “A great alternative for those that may not be able to immediately find on-street parking…It’s close by a lot of different restaurants and shops in the downtown area.” Complaints by neighbors near Bakersfield College are down, and that’s also partly due to new free parking at the school.
