Kern Supervisors Say Yes To Lightning in a Bottle

Supervisors have approved an agreement for the Lightning in a Bottle music and arts festival at the Buena Vista Lake Recreational Area in western Kern County. The vote was tabled two weeks ago to give County Roads Director Craig Pope time to meet with CalTrans and the CHP using SR 223 to reach the park, and avoid construction on the 119 and Hwy 43. Sheriff Donny Youngblood said it would require mandatory overtime for his deputies, but felt it was worth the effort.
The promoter of the five day festival in May will pay $225-thousand and add new infrastructure to use the park, the 25-thousand people expected to attend will add millions to the local economy.
