Riverside County Votes To Remove Highway Call Boxes

(Riverside, CA) — Highway call boxes in Riverside County aren’t getting any love, so they’re getting the boot. Transportation officials voted yesterday to get rid of 36-percent of remaining call boxes along Riverside County highways. The move is part of a plan to get rid of all of them by 2024 since 95-percent of Americans have a cell phone. The county once had more than a-thousand call boxes, now they’ll soon only have 150.
