The 48-year-old man who was killed in a crash on Gardner Field Road was Luis Figueroa Topete of Taft. Investigators say he was driving a vehicle that collided with another vehicle south of Southlake Road at 7:25 Thursday morning, but the cause of the crash is unknown. The victim is NOT Bakersfield civil engineer Luis Topete who is overseeing local freeway construction.
