Five Separate Shootings in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) – Kern County authorities are investigating five separate shootings that wounded seven people over the weekend.

The Sheriff’s Office says the first two shootings occurred Friday night.

In one incident a man driving away after a fight in a marijuana shop parking lot was wounded by gunfire from a vehicle that pulled up next to him.

Later that night, two victims of a drive-by shooting were hospitalized and deputies located a third victim who suffered graze wounds.

Three more shootings occurred Sunday afternoon and evening, wounding one person in each incident.

The Sheriff’s Office says there’s no known connection between the shootings and it’s unknown if any were gang-related.

None of the gunshot wounds were considered life-threatening.
