Memorial Hospital is implementing new visitor guidelines to ensure the safety of visitors, patients, and employees.
March 16, 2020 — Bakersfield, CA- Dignity Health Memorial Hospital is actively monitoring new developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As the situation evolves, Memorial Hospital is implementing new visitor guidelines to ensure the safety of our visitors, patients, and employees.
Effective March 16, 2020 the following visitor guidelines have been enacted at Memorial Hospital.
If you are feeling sick (fever, sniffles, cough, respiratory symptoms and sneezing) please return home, unless seeking care.
Please leave children under the age of 18 at home, unless seeking care for them.
Doors will open at 5:00am only for patients with scheduled procedures.
Approved visitors will be allowed to enter the hospital from 7:30am-6:30pm daily.
Visitors of non-isolation patients will be limited to (2) two adult visitors per patient per day.
Visitors of patients in isolation will be limited to (1) one adult visitor per day and must wear personal protective equipment.
(2) Two visitors per day will be allowed visitation to our Labor & Delivery Department and Family Care Units; only (1) one visitor after 6:30pm.
Visitors to pediatric units including the neonatal intensive care unit will be limited to parents only with an arm band. Overnight visits should be limited to one (1) parent. Parents exhibiting signs of illness such as fever, sniffles, cough, and respiratory symptoms and sneezing will not be permitted to visit.
Overnight stays with critical care and comfort care patients will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Adults exhibiting signs of illness such as fever, sniffles, cough, and respiratory symptoms and sneezing will not be permitted to visit.
Patients in the Emergency Department will be limited to (1) one visitor per day.
Children under the age of 18 will not be permitted in the Emergency Room unless they are seeking care.
Visitors who may be experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, and/or nasal congestion, will be asked to visit on another day when you have been symptom free for at least 48 hours.
Dignity Health advises patients to utilize emergency rooms when symptoms are severe, such as high fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. Patients should contact their regular health care provider by phone first if they are experiencing symptoms like cough, low-grade fever or other respiratory issues.
Standard precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 include: washing your hands frequently, if you’re sick, stay home, if you develop a fever and lower respiratory symptoms such as a cough, talk with your physician or care provider.
