Biden Chooses California Senator Kamala Harris To Be His Vice President

Joe Biden is selecting California Senator Kamala Harris to be his running mate. Harris will become the first African-American woman and Indian-American nominated for either president or vice president. She was elected to the Senate in 2017. Prior to that she was California’s attorney general and the top prosecutor in San Francisco. She was born in Oakland to a Jamaican-born father and an Indian-born mother. During the presidential primaries, she earned some notice after challenging Biden for his record of working with segregationists.
