PG&E Begins Shutting Power Down

(Sacramento, CA) — PG&E has begun shutting off power to thousands of customers as hot and windy weather spikes wildfire danger. The utility announced it will cut power to about 172-thousand customers. Around 9 p.m. last night, PG&E began the first round of shutoffs in 22 counties in the foothills, Sacramento Valley, Northern Sierra and elevated North Bay Terrain. A second round will be carried out tomorrow night. The company said it expects to restore power to the affected areas by Wednesday.
