Norcal Bracing For Very Strong Winds Late Sunday

(San Francisco, CA) — Northern California could be hit by the strongest winds and the highest fire danger of the year late Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch from 4:00 p.m. Sunday to 10:00 a.m. Monday, with possible gusts as high as 70-miles-per-hour at the mountain peaks and 50-miles-per-hour in the valleys. The stiffest winds are expected in the Bay Area and the west slopes of the Sierra. A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from 11:00 Sunday morning until 11:00 Tuesday morning. PG&E has already warned of more potential public safety power outages.
