Suspected Bank Robber Crashes after High-Speed Pursuit

A man has been arrested by BPD after being suspected of robbing a bank Wednesday morning.The full release is below:

On September 15th, 2021, at about 10:46 AM, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to a robbery alarm at the Wells Fargo bank, 5401 California Avenue. While officers were enroute, updated information indicated that a robbery with threat of a firearm had just occurred to the bank.

Responding officers located a possible suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 99 at Petrol Road. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop; however, the sole occupant failed to yield. The suspect led officers on a pursuit northbound on Highway 99, reaching speeds in- excess of 100 mile per hour.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle appeared to lose control attempting to exit northbound Highway 99 in the city of Delano and rolled the vehicle at approximately 13th Avenue. Officers took the occupant of the vehicle into custody with no incident. The suspect complained of pain and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. No one else was injured.

A firearm and the loss from the robbery was located in the suspect vehicle. The suspect, identified as Ray Green Sr. (57) of Roseville, California, has been placed under arrest for robbery, felony evading, possession of a stolen firearm and other associated weapons violations.
