UPDATE 11/17: The Kern County Coroner’s Office has ruled Meza’s death a suicide and Baltazar’s a homicide. Both were killed by gunshot. UPDATE: The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the married couple killed Monday night. 59-year-old Manuel Martin Portillo Meza and 56-year-old Dellanira Sanchez Baltazar were found shot to death in their home on Lotus Lane.

Bakersfield Police are investigating a double homicide that took place Monday night in east Bakersfield.

The full release is below:

On Monday, November 8th, 2021 at approximately 9:15 PM, the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Lotus Lane for a report of an unknown situation. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and adult female victim suffering from fatal gunshot injuries.

The deceased couple are married. There are no outstanding suspects and no arrests have been made; however, this is an on-going investigation. The victims’ identities will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office at a later time.
