The Bakersfield Police Department has arrested a teacher’s aide at Old River Elementary School for possession of child pornography.The full press release is below:

On Thursday, November 18th, 2021, detectives with the Bakersfield Police Department Special Victims Unit arrested Matthew Cornejo (28) of Bakersfield for possession of child pornography. Cornejo was identified as being employed by the Panama-Buena Vista School District as a teaching aid for Old River Elementary School.

At this time, none of the juvenile victims have been identified as local children or children from Old River Elementary School; however, this is an ongoing investigation. Staff of the Panama-Buena Vista School District are cooperating with the investigation. This arrest is a result of an ongoing internet crimes against children investigation.
