The Bakersfield Police Department is searching for suspects involved in a theft at Valley Plaza Mall Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, December 9th, at about 12:35 PM, the Bakersfield Police Department received reports of four suspects using tools to break glass display cases at the Kevin Jewelers business, located inside of the Valley Plaza. Simultaneously, reports were received of shots being fired inside of the Valley Plaza, with multiple callers. Officers arrived on scene within three minutes; however, the suspects had fled with stolen merchandise from the jewelry business.

No victims or evidence of a shooting was located and it is believed that the sound of the tool impacts on glass was possibly confused with gunshots.

This is an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. There is no public suspect information for release at this time.
