The full release can be seen below:

On January 12th, 2022, at about 11:43 PM, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department attempted to stop a previously reported stolen vehicle in the area of Highway 58 and H Street. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Mykel Isaac (27) of Tehachapi, failed to yield to officers and led officers on a vehicle pursuit for approximately one hour through north and east Bakersfield and Oildale. With the assistance of the Kern County Air 1 Patrol Helicopter, officers were able to continue to monitor the fleeing vehicle after canceling the ground-based pursuit due to the dangerous manner in which Isaac was operating the vehicle.

Despite not being pursued, Isaac continued to operate the vehicle with a disregard for other motorist’s safety, including traveling at excessive speed in the opposite lanes of travel on numerous streets and highways.

At 12:47 AM, Isaac was taken into custody in the area of Washington Street at East Truxtun Avenue. Officers located tools used in the theft of catalytic converters, methamphetamine and auto theft tools in the vehicle.

Isaac, an AB 109 early release non-violent offender was arrested for felony evading with disregard for public safety, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, auto theft and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. He was transported and booked into the Kern County Jail.
