Bakersfield Man Arrested for Shooting a Man and Pregnant Woman

The Bakersfield Police Department has taken a man into custody following a shooting at the Plaza Motel.

On January 27th, at 2:06 AM, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a shooting at the Plaza Motel, 711 Union Avenue. Upon arrival officers located two victims of gunshot injuries, an adult pregnant female and adult male. Both victims were transported to an area hospital and are expected to survive; including the unborn child.

As a result of the investigation, Brian Suell (41) of Bakersfield was identified as the suspect and taken into custody in the 700 block of Union Avenue with no incident. Suell, a prior early release AB 109 non-violent offender, was placed under arrest for multiple counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, gang participation, felon in possession of a firearm and other associated charges. He was transported and booked into the Kern County Jail.
