KCSO Investigating Social Media Threat at Standard Middle School

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says there is no evidence to substantiate a social media threat of violence at Standard Middle School.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a social media message threatening violence at Standard Middle School. Through their investigation, deputies and detectives have determined the origin of this report is not known, and the Sheriff’s Office has not found any evidence to substantiate the claim. Out of an abundance of caution, you may notice an increased police presence on or around school campus.

It is a crime to make criminal threats. The offense can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, and is punishable by up to 3 years in jail or prison. We take these reports very seriously and encourage the community to report any suspicious activity immediately.
