Bakersfield Man Killed in Shooting with BPD

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating an officer-involved-shooting in southeast Bakersfield.

The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Alexandro Rosales.

On Saturday, February 19, 2022, at about 10:32 PM, Bakersfield Police officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue regarding a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a subject to the front of the residence and an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died as a result of injuries sustained during the incident. No officers were injured during the incident. The suspect involved was in possession of a firearm, which was recovered at the scene. Two officers discharged their firearms during the incident. Both the involved officers were equipped with body cameras.

The circumstances of this incident are currently under investigation and more details will be forthcoming as this investigation develops. Both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation is being conducted. The decedent’s identity will be released later by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
