BPD Investigating Fatal Crash between a Sedan and a Mini-Bike

The Bakersfield Police Department says one man has been following a traffic collision in south Bakersfield.

On Sunday, March 13th, 2022, at 7:54 P.M. the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the 9400 block of Harris Road regarding a major injury collision involving a 4door sedan and an offroad mini motorcycle.

The adult male rider of the offroad mini motorcycle sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the decedent will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the 4door sedan, an adult female, was not injured. She remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the offroad mini motorcycle, which is unauthorized for street use, was traveling in the roadway without proper lighting equipment when struck by the 4door sedan. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor to the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
