A young boy is missing after falling into the Kern River Saturday afternoon. According to KCSO, the child along with several other juveniles was swimming without a life vest south of Keyesville around 2:18 p.m. The boy then slipped and the adult supervising the group was unable to rescue him. At this time, this is not a body recovery effort.

Kern Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lori Meza says Search and Rescue is working in the early morning and evenings to search for the child.

Anyone with information is asked to call the KCSO.
