Man Arrested for Attempted Rape during Bakersfield Home Burglary

Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department have taken a man into custody after a home invasion in southwest Bakersfield.

On June 17th, 2022, at approximately 4:13 PM, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Park Bend Court regarding an intruder being restrained inside of a residence. Upon arrival, officers took Kyler Kuehl (59) of Bakersfield into custody.

The investigation revealed that Kuehl forced entry into a stranger’s residence, armed with a hatchet. Kuehl entered a bathroom of the residence, where an adult female was showering. A struggle ensued between the victim and Kuehl. During the physical struggle, an adult male relative arrived home and was able to physically detain Kuehl and contact law enforcement.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injury.

Kuehl was placed under arrest for attempted rape during a burglary offense, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and first degree burglary.
