When it comes to Fourth of July safety, we immediately think of fireworks, but a tragic reminder about children being left unattended. Two-year-old Brooklyn Marie Brown of Bakersfield was apparently left unsupervised, and drowned in a pool Saturday evening. Kern County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 500 block of Corazon Court near Breckenridge Road around 5pm. She was pulled from the pool and taken to the hospital, and later pronounced dead. It’s not clear right now how Brown ended up in the water.
