Taylor Swift’s Re-Recorded ‘Love Story’ Debuts Atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart

Taylor Swift‘s re-recording of “Love Story,” dubbed “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” debuted atop Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart dated February 27.

The song earned Swift her eighth Hot Country Songs No. 1. The track is also her first to debut at the top of the chart.

The re-recording of the song, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version),” was released on February 12, 2021. It made Swift the second artist, after Dolly Parton, to reach No. 1 on Hot Country Songs with both the original and re-recorded versions of a song.

Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” first topped the chart for a week in June 1974, followed by her updated recording for a week in October 1982.

“Love Story” was written and recorded by Swift as the lead single for her second studio album Fearless. She wrote the song about a love interest who was not popular among her family and friends.

The song received widespread critical praise and was a huge commercial success. The original song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
