BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Bakersfield man who repeatedly stabbed his brother with a kitchen knife is off the hook on murder charges.
Andy Burgos-Garcia, 27, was acquitted Wednesday of attempted murder after his attorney argued Burgos-Garcia was trying to protect his sister and her friend during an altercation in March 2024 in the 100 block of Morrison Street.
Garcia’s brother Hector Garcia was discovered by police outside the home suffering from stab wounds to his head and neck.
Andy Garcia was also found not guilty of attempted voluntary manslaughter, but was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and goes back to court for sentencing February 5, 2026.
