BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Congressman David Valadao, (R), Hanford, has joined two other Central Valley lawmakers in calling on the California Department of Justice to explain the lack of sex charges in the Zack Scrivner case.
Scrivner, the 51-year-old former District 2 supervisor, was charged with child abuse and possession of assault weapons, but no sex charges, after he allegedly molested one of his minor children at their Tehachapi home in April 2024.
State Senator Shannon Grove, (R), Bakersfield, and Assemblywoman Jasmeet Bains, (D), Delano, are calling on state officials for transparency in the way Scrivner was charged, and are seeking federal intervention in the case.
Scrinver was granted mental health diversion in December, and will avoid jail time if he successfully completes the program.
Scrivner’s aunt is Kern County District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer.
