BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Jury selection is scheduled for January 14, 2026, in the trial of an elderly Bakersfield man accused of striking attendees of the Bakersfield Christmas parade with his pickup.
Police say Alan Booth, 74, injured several people when he backed his truck into the onlookers at the parade in December 2023.
Booth will first stand trial on misdemeanor DUI charges after he allegedly drove to a car dealership on Oak Street with a blood-alcohol content reportedly three times the legal limit.
Then he’ll go on trial on charges filed in the parade crash including felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Booth told police he drank a single shot of vodka before driving to the dealership to get a tire on his Ford Escape.
