BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton came to Kern County this week.
The British-born Republican is a former political advisor to U-K Prime Minister David Cameron and Fox News Channel contributor who hosted a town hall meeting in Bakersfield on Wednesday.
Hilton’s platform includes deregulating California, cutting taxes, and downsizing state government.
Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco are locked in a tight race for the top spot on the ticket.
The top two candidates with the most votes, regardless of party, will be on the ballot in the November midterm election. The California primary is set for June 2, 2026.
