BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The California Attorney General’s Office has filed a petition challenging the mental health diversion program granted to former Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner.
The 51-year-old is accused of inappropriately touching one of his children while he was high on drugs at his home in Tehachapi in April 2024.
Scrivner was granted a mental health diversion program in December after pleading not guilty to child endangerment and weapons charges. No sex charges were filed.
The ruling sparked outrage among Kern County lawmakers and sexual abuse service providers.
The AG’s office filed the petition Tuesday, but the Fifth District Court of Appeal rejected it Wednesday afternoon because of a filing error.
The petition was resubmitted, and a decision is pending.
