BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Bakersfield man accused of killing his son over an electric bill has entered a plea in court.
A murder charge was dropped Wednesday after Jose Preciado, 52, entered a no-contest plea to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Angel Preciado, 23, at their home on Center Street in November 2025.
Court documents show the two men and another one of Preciado’s sons had been drinking the night of the argument that left Angel shot to death.
Preciado faces 21 years in prison when he’s sentenced April 2, 2026.
