BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The city of Bakersfield is moving forward with plans to lease — and possibly buy — the Bank of America building.
The Bank of America branch at Truxtun Tower on Truxtun Avenue was permanently closed in February, leaving the ten-story building available for other options.
The city says a five-year lease has been negotiated with the option to buy, with a start date of October 1, 2026, for $34,600 per month. A sale price of $13.6 million is on the table and could be finalized by August 15, 2026.
The lease saves the city $900,000 per month over the next five years.
