BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Bakersfield man will serve 13 years in prison for a road rage incident that landed a couple in a canal in south Bakersfield.
Abel Almanza learned his fate Wednesday after his conviction last month on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving.
Almanza admitted he was in “road rage mode” when he chased the couple on Highway 99, then onto surface streets, eventually ramming their car into a canal on South H Street in June 2020.
The victims were forced to escape through rising water but were not injured.
