BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A young boy was rescued after being stuck inside a chimney at a northeast Bakersfield home Wednesday afternoon.
Crews with the Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a report of a child stuck in a chimney at a home in the 2900 block of La Cresta Drive, near Garces Memorial High School.
First responders found the child about 8 to 12 feet inside the chimney. Police officers said the child was not in any distress and was able to speak to firefighters.
Crews deployed ropes down to the boy and pulled him out.
The child suffered scrapes to his arms and legs and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
