BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The former epicenter of the Bakersfield Sound will soon become affordable housing.
The site of the former Trout’s Nightclub on North Chester Avenue in Oildale will be converted into a 15-unit housing complex in a project spearheaded by local non-profit Golden Empire Affordable Housing.
Construction is set to begin in about a month, with tenants moving in by April 2027.
Trout’s closed in 2017 and burned to the ground in 2022. It’s iconic neon sign is housed at the Kern County Museum.
