WASHINGTON, D.C (Fox News) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday he supports President Donald Trump’s two-week ceasefire with Iran. In a Truth Social post, Trump suggested Iran was ready to reach a peace agreement and said the U.S. would help manage traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
President Donald Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday. The move came after talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who urged Trump to delay any further U.S. military action while both sides continued to negotiate.
Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. would help manage traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which was effectively shut down by Iran early in the conflict, disrupting a significant portion of the global energy supply. Before Operation Epic Fury began, the narrow waterway between Iran, Oman and the United Arab Emirates had typically carried roughly 20 million barrels of oil a day, along with about one-fifth of global liquefied natural gas.
