UPDATED: Homicide Investigation in Bakersfield

BPD Homicide is investigating after a man, said to be in 50’s was found dead in the parking lot of a business near 3rd and Union Ave. This apparently stemmed from an argument.

Statement from BPD:

officers responded to 349 Union Avenue for a report on a man down in the parking lot.  Upon arrival officers found an adult male victim deceased in the parking lot from apparent stab wounds.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in an argument with another subject.  The argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation and resulted in the victim’s death.  The suspect was identified as James Jordan (age 66).  Jordan turned himself in at the Bakersfield Police Department at about 3:45 p.m.  After being interviewed, Jordan was arrested for homicide.  He was transported and booked into the Kern County jail.

 

The identity of the victim will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
